Highland cattle are docile and easy to handle and can be halter trained. Their long eyelashes and forelocks protect their eyes, the shorter legs reduce foot and leg problems, and they are less susceptible to stress-related diseases and other bovine diseases. They can survive in harsh climates, including strong winds, heavy rain, and poor grazing. They can live outside all year. Highland cattle are naturally free-ranging and can calve unassisted in all conditions and are excellent Mothers.
